Shelly Robbins, a sales and business development professional with more than two decades of experience, has been named senior director, foundation, corporate sales and events for the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America (GCSAA). In her role, Robbins will provide overall direction and program management of the GCSAA Foundation, corporate sales and conference events and meeting planning to build strong relationships and ensure mutually beneficial funding is secured to carry out GCSAA’s mission.

The creation of this position and hiring of Robbins come as GCSAA enters its 100th year, and is focused on setting up GCSAA for success in its second century and beyond.

Prior to GCSAA, Robbins served as assistant vice president of business development for L’Oréal/Matrix, where she used data-driven analytics to optimize sales strategies and fuel organizational growth. She also previously served as director of national and international sales for Gear for Sports, Inc., working in the professional sports and military divisions.

She holds an associate’s degree in business management from Butler County (Kan.) Community College and a certification in agribusiness from the University of Missouri-Columbia.

“Shelly brings a strong balance of strategic leadership and hands-on execution with national and international companies,” GCSAA Chief Executive Officer Rhett Evans said. “Her ability to quickly build genuine connections will serve her well in working with external partners, prospective donors, and our internal teams.”

Robbins began her position Dec. 11.

“It’s an exciting time to join GCSAA as we enter the association’s next century,” Robbins said. “I’m thrilled to help drive growth across the Foundation, corporate sales, and events, and to support the work that empowers golf course management professionals everywhere.”

Robbins’s team will include veteran GCSAA staff members Mischia Wright, director of foundation development; Matt Brown, director, corporate sales; and Jana Brown, director, conference events and meeting planning.
