- Green Start Academy (GSA) is ready to welcome a new class
of assistant superintendents to its annual leadership and development program. The 17th annual class will be only the second to be held at Pinehurst Resort in N.C. GSA, hosted in partnership by John Deere, Bayer, and Rain Bird, is premiere event for
assistant superintendents to learn key career development tools that will help propel their careers further, including balancing a budget, how to manage DEI in the workplace, resume building, networking tips, and more. The program is currently accepting applications through August 1, 2022. Those interested can apply for a spot in this year’s class on the Green Start Academy website.

- RightLine LLC announces that Cary Zech has joined the company as Regional Sales Manager. Cary joins RightLine with more than 20 years of experience in the turf and ornamental markets, most recently with Pennington Seed, Madison

In the new position, Cary will represent the existing RightLine products, which includes EPA-registered herbicides, insecticides, fungicides, plant growth regulators, nematicides and nutritional products. He will also help launch a series of new products

- Kansas State University has announced Beth Guertal as program director for the Center of Excellence on Mitigation, Adaptation, and Resilience to Climate-Change in Haiti led by the Sustainable Intensification Innovation
Lab. Guertal is responsible for managing the center's day-to-day operations, supporting the center's vision and goals and serving as a leader in the national education, research and outreach community. Guertal will support the development of the individual university plans, oversee the capacity development of the Haitian faculty and provide guidance of the scientific aspects of their applied research. She will also be working with the Haitian universities
to help master's students with their research. Additionally, Guertal will support, develop and implement the broader human and institutional capacity-building activities with the Haitian partners. She will foster agricultural education, training, research, extension, and link farmers with the
private sector through improved collaboration, communication and knowledge sharing to address agricultural problems and food and nutritional security in Haiti.
- Howard Fertilizer and Chemical Company Inc. has announced that Sean McNerney has been appointed Director of Sales for the company’s Turf and Ornamental Division. In his new role, McNerney will be directly responsible for
managing the Florida Golf Division while supporting all other segments of the turf and ornamental business. McNerney became acquainted with Howard Fertilizer as a customer when he was a golf course superintendent, then supported the company in a manufacturer’s role during his eight years at Bayer.

- The Georgia GCSA announced the recipients of the 2022 Legacy Scholarships, which offer educational aid to children and grandchildren of Georgia GCSA members. The awards are funded by the Georgia
GCSA and sponsored by Jerry Pate Company.
Applications were reviewed independently by the Georgia GCSA scholarship committee. Criteria for selection included academic achievement, extracurricular and community involvement, leadership, and outside employment. Students were required to submit
an essay stating a positive change that they have noticed in their Georgia GCSA parent or grandparent since the onset of the pandemic. To be eligible, one or more of the applicant's parents or grandparents must have been a Georgia GCSA member for five or more consecutive years and must be a current Georgia GCSA member in one of the following classifications: A, B, C, Retired A, Retired
B superintendent or AA Life. Students must be enrolled full-time at an accredited institution for the next academic year. This year’s recipients were:
