Carey Lohrenz, the first female F-14 Tomcat fighter pilot in the U.S. Navy, will share lessons in leading high-performing teams, overcoming obstacles and succeeding under pressure during an engaging presentation on Jan. 30 at the Closing Celebration of the 2020 Golf Industry Show in Orlando, Fla.
“We are honored to have Carey Lohrenz join us at GIS,” says GCSAA CEO Rhett Evans. “Her story of breaking down barriers while working in one of the world’s most challenging environments will offer inspiration and insight into helping any team or individual triumph. She is a true American hero.”
Lohrenz’s presentation will be the cap to a week of educational, exhibitor and networking opportunities Jan. 25-30 at the Golf Industry Show, which includes the GCSAA Golf Championships, the GCSAA Education Conference and the industry trade show. GCSAA will also host marquee events to recognize its annual award winners, including Gary Player, 2020 recipient of the Old Tom Morris Award, the association’s highest honor.
Lohrenz, author of the book “Fearless Leadership: Lessons from the Flight Deck,” has flown missions worldwide as a combat, mission-ready U.S. Navy pilot. Through her groundbreaking career in military aviation and her experiences working in fast-paced, high-risk settings — where inconsistency can have catastrophic results — Lohrenz offers unique insights on leadership, vision, execution and resilience.
During the Closing Celebration, in conjunction with Lohrenz’s appearance, GCSAA will be honoring GIS attendees and their family members who have served in the military. Names can be submitted for recognition until Jan. 17.
