Friday, March 14

  • The Carolinas GCSA announced they will award researchers close to $300,000 in grants for new projects to further enhance the game’s economic and environmental sustainability. Money to fund the grants was raised in the annual Rounds 4 Research online auction where golfers buy tee times donated by golf facilities. Since creating the auction in 2008, the Carolinas GCSA has now funded more than $850,000 in turfgrass research at Clemson and North Carolina State universities.
  • The Carolinas GCSA announced that Pinehurst’s Bob Farren, CGCS will receive this year’s Distinguished Service Award from the association. Farren learned the news in a surprise announcement in front of more than 200 golf industry colleagues at the Southeast Region Conference at Pinehurst Resort this week. The Distinguished Service Award is the highest honor bestowed by the 1,850-member Carolinas GCSA and will be presented at the association’s annual Conference and Trade Show in Myrtle Beach, SC in November.

  • Advanced Turf Solutions announced that Scott Lund has expanded his role as a sales representative to provide demonstrations for Steel Green Manufacturing. In this dual capacity, Lund will remain dedicated to his ATS customers, ensuring that agronomic solutions remain a priority while expanding his reach to help turf professionals in the Northeast experience Steel Green’s innovative spreader/sprayers firsthand.

  • Syngenta announced the launch of GreenCast Connect, a cutting-edge mobile app designed to enhance the way turf and landscape professionals manage their operations. With advanced features and real-time insights, the app aims to streamline decision-making, optimize resource use, and help managers meet the highest standards of quality, according to the company.

Wednesday, March 5

  • Nufarm announced California EPA registration of Velocity PM Poa Management Herbicide, which is now approved for use on California golf courses. Velocity PM is specifically developed and formulated to help golf courses gradually and selectively remove postemergence annual bluegrass (Poa annua) and roughstalk bluegrass (Poa trivialis), while also reducing Poa annua seedhead production and suppressing dollar spot.

Tuesday, March 4

  • Barenbrug USA announced the launch of Pro Repair Sand and Pro Repair Compost, two products tailored for golf course superintendents, sports field managers, and landscapers. Designed for seamless repair of divots, bare spots, and stressed turf areas, both products leverage TurfMend and Barenbrug's grass seed innovations.
